OpposeThe blurry pair of grasses on the right-hand side ruins everything, as it stands right in front of the fresh buffalo skull. Wolverine XI 11:05, 21 April 2024 (UTC)- Thank you for your review. If I understand that it would have been preferable to not have that grass blade, I think that the fact that it's a single grass blade in front of the skull, on the extremity of the lower jaw, and that it can be seen through while still having great detail, makes this negligeable in my opinion. - Oppose Sorry Giles, the lighting spoils to for me to FP Poco a poco (talk) 14:39, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your review. I understand what you mean but I felt that the skull being a bit in the shadows while the grass around it is colorful and sunny with green, yellow and orange is a good symbolic of death and the life that continues to thrive around it (and of it for the insects) and that this picture is a good depiction of the circle of life. Also I like how the skull is perfectly and naturally placed looking up and with mouth open. Giles Laurent (talk) 15:08, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
- Support FP, for sure. Educational value, with a macabre sense of beauty. --Harlock81 (talk) 18:17, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose The background has the same color as the skull, making the subject hard to distinguish. Moreover the light is not so good. Object in the shadow, poor contrasts. Sorry -- Basile Morin (talk) 08:34, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
Alternative[edit]
- Info Here's an alternative version with edited light where the skull is less in the shadows. Pinging all the previous voters: Wolverine XI, Poco a poco, Harlock81 and Basile Morin. Thank you in advance for the new review. -- 11:11, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Support both versions -- Giles Laurent (talk) 11:11, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Support Much better and nicer! Thanks a lot! ★ 14:54, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose The background has the same color as the skull, making the subject hard to distinguish. Also the light is not so good at the beginning. In this version the shadows have been lifted, but this is the result of a special post treatment, not a natural feature. The contrasts are still unappealing, sorry -- Basile Morin (talk) 17:36, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
I withdraw my nomination I think the subject is also a little too "disgusting" for most people's tastes (including mine) but I felt that I needed to try as I thought the position of the skull was quite photogenic if you didn't look into the details and that the picture had educational value. Giles Laurent (talk) 10:07, 26 April 2024 (UTC).
- There's nothing disgusting about this image. It's the survival of the fittest; the weakest dies and strongest thrives. This is the reality of life in the wild. Wolverine XI 12:56, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yes I agree, it's the circle of life and it is quite interesting -- Giles Laurent (talk) 14:03, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- Definitely interesting. Not disgusting in my subjective view, although not FP it is an useful upload -- Basile Morin (talk) 14:41, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
