DESCRIPTION OF THE PLATE ILLUSTRATIVE OF WEST EUROPEAN COINS OF THE XIIITH–XVITH CENTURIES

  1. Silver Penny of King Henry III of England (1216–72), struck at London.
  2. Penny struck at London during the reigns of the first three Edwards (1272–1377). Practically the same die used in each case.
  3. Tournois of King Philip the Fair of France (1285–1314).
  4. Groschen of Prag, King Wenzeslaus II of Bohemia (1278–1305).
  5. Sequin of Doge Peter Gradenigo of Venice (1289–1310).
  6. Florin, struck at Florence, bearing the arms of Augustino de Nasis, 1489.
  7. Tournois of Deutz, struck by Walram von Jülich, Archbishop of Cologne (1414–63).
  8. Golden gulden struck at Bonn by Dietrich II von Mörs, Archbishop of Cologne (1464–1500).
  9. Double ducat (Dobla) of King Ferdinand the Catholic of Aragon (1479–1516) and his queen Isabella of Castille (1474–1504, married 1469).
  10. a. b. Golden groschen, so called Klappmützenthaler, of Friedrich III the Wise, Elector of Saxony, struck in association (1500–1507) with his nephew, Duke George, and his brother, Duke John the Constant.
  11. a. b. Tirolian thaler of the Archduke Sigismund of Austria, 1486.
  12. Half thaler of the same Archduke, 1484.
  13. a. b. Golden groschen of Joachimsthal, or thaler of Count Stephan Senlick (died 1526) and his brother.
  14. a. b. Half thaler of the same Counts, 1525.
  15. Quarter, or Orsthaler of the same Counts.
