[edit]DescriptionDay 208 - West Midlands Police - Safer Summer Campaign launched (7650164410).jpg |
A 'Safer Summer' campaign has been launched today to help further reduce crime and anti-social behaviour across the West Midlands. This photograph shows Assistant Chief Constable Garry Forsyth promoting the campaign outside Lloyd House earlier today. Officers will be handing out crime prevention postcards throughout the summer months and crime prevention artwork will also be seen on A Frame trailors, billboards and buses across the West Midlands. You can view our Safer Summer crime prevention tips by visiting www.west-midlands.police.uk/safersummer. The campaign – which will be seen on billboards, a-frame trailers and the rears of public buses across the region – aims to remind communities of how they can work with police to ensure a safer summer for everyone by following some straightforward safety advice. It comes after the force reported its lowest crime levels for a decade in June with over 9,500 fewer victims in the West Midlands compared to June 2011. Officers however, are still seeking to drive down crime in communities and the latest campaign will address a predicted seasonal rise in reports of anti-social behaviour, sneak in burglary, theft and irresponsible drinking during the warmer weather. The four eye-catching designs each capture elements of 2012’s action packed summer and the current celebratory atmosphere - with a clear reminder not to give criminals the opportunity to ruin the mood. The campaign’s four designs each carry their own simple crime reduction message: Don’t make your night out a nightmare this summer… Drink responsibly, stay with friends and never drink and drive Don’t let thieves steal your summer… Keep your belongings close A burglar could ruin your summer… Don’t let them. Keep your home secure Consider others this summer… Don’t let anti-social behaviour ruin your summer – report it to police on 101 |
