Description

My main desktop PC, surrounded by my home recording setup (well, a good deal of it, anyway) - see notes for details.

(Update (2011): This view has changed considerably since the photo was taken - for one thing, it's some time since the room looked this tidy ;-) )

(Update (Jan 2012): Honestly, I can't believe how tidy this desk looks compared to now - I think it's time for a thorough spring-clean! Sadly, "tenchi" is no longer with us - it went for recycling in Dec 2011, but not before I salvaged its two hard drives and the IDE ZIP drive...)

  • Boss BR-8 digital 8-track multitrack recorder (bought 2000)
  • Joemeek VC3Q mike pre-amp/compressor (the green box)
  • Roland GI10 guitar-MIDI interface (underneath)
  • Samson Resolv 65a active monitor speaker (one of pair) - the toy Trabant on top was bought in Berlin in 1997
  • Midiman Midisport 2x2 USB MIDI interface (bought 1999)
  • Logitech QuickCam Express USB webcam - found out that day that it was supported 'out-of-the-box' in Ubuntu Linux
  • Philips 170C 17" TFT monitor - bought for ￡300 in 2003, and a similar model today might cost about ￡100!
  • 'tenchi' (with cover off, as the machine seems to overheat with it on)
  • Daughter's vitamin syrup (Sanatogen, I think) - not sure how that got there...
