Bolzano (880), a town with 10,640 iiihab., wasthe chief depot of the traftic betw^een Venice and the North in themiddle ages, and is now the busiest commercial town in Tyrol. Itis charmingly situated at the confluence of the Talfer^ which de-scends from the Sarnthal on the N., and the Eisakj which falls intothe Adige 3 M. below the town.
