The flag ratio should be 3:5, not 3:4 - Quistnix 17:41, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done. ¦ Reisio 22:30, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've redrawn the flag since the old version had a false map and the leaves were also a bit deformed. I put the leaves horizontally at the center of the flag which I thought was logical. It seems that only the colours are officially defined, not the exact place of the symbols. The file size still needs to be decreased; I wasn't able to do it with my software. –Vzb83 03:55, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Where does this information come from, then? - Quistnix 11:50, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Invisible flag

[edit]

What happened to this flag? It becomes invisible unless it is used as a thumbnail - Quistnix 10:36, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. (I removed the big example blank images, but you can see them in the history.) User:dbenbenn 15:59, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to Design

[edit]

Hopefully someone will notice this! The Cypriot government recently outlined minor changes to the flag:

  1. The outline of the country is more detailed.
  2. The ratio of the flag has changed from 3:5 to 2:3
  3. The colour and design of the olive branches.

I am not very good with Inkscape to change the image, but hopefully someone else will :D

Yes the Cyprus Government updated the national flag on 20 Apr 2006 (Source: [1]), with new details, updated Pantone colour, and new ratio, sources are listed below:

turkish description

[edit]

when i add turkish description to this file, all other descriptions are deleting, why is it being so?ZoRCoCuK (talk) 18:46, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User:Maurice07 keeps deleting the Turkish description because Turkey doesn't recognize the Republic of Cyprus. That should not matter because Turkish Wikipedia has an article on the flag, there are Turkish speakers in countries besides Turkey, and Turkish is an official language of the Republic of Cyprus anyway. Look at the Cypriot euro: en:File:Eurocoin.cy.100.gif. There is a Greek description on File:Flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.svg and no one is removing that. The file description doesn't need to be another battleground for the Cyprus dispute. Homo lupus (talk) 17:01, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Warning: The current version of the flag is not accurate

[edit]

Color

[edit]

The correct version of the flag is displayed on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus (Source: [6]) (Colour of copper Pantone 1385, Colour green Pantone 574, Size: Ratio 3x2). The color in which depicted the island should be changed. Don't confused with the color of the Coat of Arms. It's different. IM-yb (talk) 14:39, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Centering and lowering

[edit]

The branches and the map of Cyprus (symbols) should be at the center and lower (presidency.gov.cy) on the flag --IM-yb (talk) 00:54, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Scheme

[edit]

The scheme of the emblems is different. The map and the branches are more thin than the official. --IM-yb (talk) 01:08, 12 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Improvement

[edit]

Now the flag is very close to that presented by the official website of the presidency (wiki / presidency). I hope to further improve it, not to replace it by a not accurate again. --IM-yb (talk) 00:29, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
