Description

עברית: במהלך השנים נבנו מגדלורים במספר מקומות על הר הכרמל.

בסוף המאה ה-19 ניצב המגדלור בקצה המערבי של ארמון הקיץ של עבדאללה פאשה, שליט עכו בין 1820-1831, שבנה את ארמונו על בסיס בניין של המסדר הכרמליתי אותו הרס. בשנת 1832 כבש איברהים פאשה את עכו, הגלה את עבדאללה ובשנת 1834 החזיר את הבניין לכרמליתים. לאחר מכן הוחזר המגדלור לעבדאללה, אך בשנת 1846 הוא מכר אותו לכרמליתים שפתחו בו אכסניה לצליינים.

המבנה ניזוק קשות במהלך מלחמת העולם הראשונה, אך לאחר שהוחזר לידיהם של הכרמליתים בשנית, הם הוסיפו בשנת 1926 קומה שנייה למבנה, ובשנת 1928, בעזרת תרומה של קונסול הכבוד הספרדי, נבנה המגדלור הנוכחי. במהלך מלחמת העולם השנייה הפך הממשל הבריטי את המתקן למחנה צבאי, ולאחר פינוי הבריטים מארץ ישראל בשנת 1948, שימש תקופה קצרה כבסיס של האו"ם. מאוחר יותר הפך למחנה של צה"ל וכיום הוא שוכן בו בסיס של חיל הים אשר משלם שכירות לכנסייה.
