Description
This is a photograph of an architectural monument.
It is on the list of cultural monuments of Glückstadt, no. 3021.

Glückstadt (Schleswig-Holstein) – Am Markt 4 – Rathaus – Baujahr: 1873 (Vorgängerbau: 1642)

– Das Rathaus ist die Nachbildung eines Vorgängerbaus von 1642, der kurz nach der Stadtgründing auf Veranlassung des dänischen Königs Christian IV. entstand. Das alte Gebäude war baufällig, ist dann abgetragen worden und in seiner heutigen Form 1873 neu errichtet.

– Es handelt sich um einen traufständigen, zweigeschossigen Bau auf hohem Sockel in den typischen Formen der Nordischen Renaissance. Er ist in Backstein errichtet und mit Sandsteinelementen gegliedert. Die Front zieren zwei hohe Zwerchhäuser mit geschweiften Giebeln, die einen kleineren geschweiften Mittelgiebel einschließen. Das Hauptportal wird über eine zweiseitige Freitreppe erreicht. Auf beiden Seiten führen zwei große Durchfahten zu den dahinter liegenden Straßen.
