Possible FP?

I'm thinking about nominating some photos for FP, but I want to know which have a chance. I post here few pictures that i think are good. --LoMit (talk) 19:57, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi LoMit! Your pictures are really nice, good quality pictures. For buildings, I think the standard is set up quite high right now. The subject should be "special" enough, light and resolution too. Let's take your pictures from left to right:
1) Nice but standard night photo (verticals are not vertical but we can leave that now). What I'd do is to try to capture it a bit earlier during the blue hour, it's usually more wowy. Try to impress by composition (like here) or quality (like here). Try to find an angle where no disturbing elements like cars or people are presented. If you can't get rid of them, make them part of the composition and give the impression like they meant to be there
2) Beautiful but still not that special. Different light could make it special
3) Rather ordinary. It could work if, for example, cars and people weren't there, and it was all foggy and slippery. Compare eg. with this
4) Again, standard night shot. Try it closer to the blue hour when the lights are already on but it's still light enough so the naturals colors stand out. Compare with this. This light on one of your photos is great
5) Nice, FP potential, but neither light nor resolution are extraordinary. Also, cars kind of spoil it.
The key factor in FP is "wow" effect - you look at the picture and your lips whisper "wow". Light is usually what's the key to it. I hope it helped. Feel free to nominate the pictures anyway, these are only my opinions :) All the best, --Podzemnik (talk) 23:13, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for meaningful opinion :). I looked again through the FP photos of other authors and I understand, what really is this "wow" effect. I have to think about it --LoMit (talk) 13:05, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
LoMit,
About the 3°
No, cars and people are important, and remove or take the photo in a moment where are no people is not good tip.
First because you loose a focal point, one thing to look at.
That's the actually main problem of your photo. Imagine a very interesting person walking in the street or a nice vehicle on that road.
If you had this kind of experience, you could ask for that guy in red to walk in the middle of the road, or cross the street... this could be a better photo already.
The road used as counter example is a away different situation, the curve and the sky makes a interesting photo, here is a straight street photo... not a good example.
A good sample (recognise the city?), see how your eyes goes directly to the person in red, is not even a super interesting person, but make your eyes rest in one place.
Second, you loose movement... this is a very static image, I see some people moving, but they are so not in the spotlight, that do not affect the over all of the photo.
Clouds, moving cars, more people, could give some movement to it.
straight street, people moving > "photo moving" (mobile photo, and fb compression, sorry, the first that I recalled)
Another point, needs a cleaning, look the white "paper" in the pavement, this distracts a bit the viewer.
About night shots.
Clean skies are not the best for a outstanding night shots. In the city it's pretty rare to see stars, so cloudy days and powerful moon will bring a extra to your night shots, but are a obligation.
Blue hours are gorgeous, but not mandatory to FP, and too much blue pics, will take the fun of it... so, invest in night shots, you can do outstanding photos in night hours:

And sometimes is a question of angle [3]
You just need to find locations that are incredible at night, this seems a nice place.
Warsaw at night:

This guys :[7] [8] they live near Warsaw, and they have some amazing photos (most of they), going to the places that they did amazing photos and try to over it, could be a great exercise to grow to a next level.
And remember, FP have to do also with politics, not always is about the photo... -- Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 10:26, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
