We now have categories for automobiles by decade (eg, Category:1960s automobiles) and by year from 1900 to present (eg, Category:1932 automobiles). -- Infrogmation 23:33, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Scope of the category[edit]
Although there is a strong consensus against the term "car", I see that even the term "automobile" is quite problematic. According to Wikidata, an automobile (or "motor car", as it is called there) is a "motorized road vehicle designed to carry one to eight people rather than primarily goods". Although this definition obviously excludes motor vehicles like Category:Buses (which carries more than eight people) and Category:Vans (which is generally designed to carry goods), it may not exclude motor vehicles like Category:Auto-rickshaws and even Category:Motorcycles. While auto-rickshaws (which carries up to eight people) and motorcycles (which carries up to four people) do satisfy the Wikidata definition, they are generally not considered as automobiles.
