Renaming

[edit]

I suggest renaming categories: from Category:XXXX prefecture, Category:YYYY in XXXX prefecture, or Category:ZZZZ of XXXX prefecture to Category:XXXX Prefecture, Category:YYYY in XXXX Prefecture, or Category:ZZZZ of XXXX Prefecture.--柑橘類 15:28, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Category:XXXX prefecture、Category:YYYY in XXXX prefecture、Category:ZZZZ of XXXX prefectureをCategory:XXXX Prefecture、Category:YYYY in XXXX Prefecture、Category:ZZZZ of XXXX Prefectureに改名することを提案します。--柑橘類 15:28, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose No need to move thousands of categories and navigation templates; both are correct, their consistency is important. --*[[User:Foroa|Foroa}} (talk) 16:57, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Question Why would X Prefecture be better then X prefecture? We would need a good reason to justify the cost of renaming. --whym (talk) 00:36, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

English Wikipedia adopts XXXX Prefecture, so there is no consistency between Wikimedia projects. Most of prefectural governments also use XXXX Prefecture or XXXX Prefectural Government in their English website. Both XXXX prefecture and XXXX Prefecture are correct, but the latter is more official and common.--柑橘類 04:14, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agree with whym. English Wikipedia uses title case for all their article names (which is not the case of Commons) and tends to be very sloppy/inconsistent about their capitalisation. Such a large move effort is only justified when we have a solid proof of a formal standard. --Foroa (talk) 14:44, 20 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
