Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: ArchiveBot's partial replacement for archiving talk pages and other discussion pages.

Automatic or manually assisted: automatic

Edit type (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): daily

Maximum edit rate (e.g. edits per minute): 6 per minute

Bot flag requested: (Y/N): Y

Programming language(s): Pywikibot/archivebot.py [1]

As a partial replacement of ArchiveBot it will archive old sections from talk pages and other discussion pages where requested. It needs a bot flag otherwise it will trigger hundreds of email notifications when working on user talk pages. This is a multi-maintainer bot; as mentioned at Commons:Bots/Requests/Revibot I, Revi and I agreed on co-maintaining this bot for Commons, sharing Tool Labs account "archiving" for this. Lastly, it's Archive"r"Bot, not ArchiveBot. (Sorry for the confusing name.) whym (talk) 09:57, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

@EugeneZelenko: Without passwd? Fastily has retired (and deleted the toolslabs stuff), and i am not sure if he like to give out the pw. --Steinsplitter (talk) 14:07, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think this will worth to try. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:10, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Special:EmailUser/Fastily: "This user has chosen not to receive email from other users."

@EugeneZelenko and : Sharing nor usurpation of the account is unlikely. He intended to keep it when I emailed him a couple of days ago. whym (talk) 14:25, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Can you run a quick demo please? Suggest running it for two or three minutes, over a range of page types, then switching off. If all looks OK, it should be easy to approve then. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 12:58, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The test run looks ok and he source code is the same as used by the old bot. Bot operators are also trusted. IMHO fine to approve this task asap. --Steinsplitter (talk) 14:13, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@MichaelMaggs: Done. 3 failures (1 2 3) were caused by the fact that the bot was too new. With the current edit count it's not an issue any more. (1 2 3) whym (talk) 14:25, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

✓[OK] Approved and bot flag set. Could you please make sure that the bot's page includes all of the mandatory information (see box I in the table above)? It seems to be missing:

  • Maximum edit rate: The bot's maximum edit rate (eg edits per minute)

Thanks. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 15:59, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove botflag from the old archovebot account. --Steinsplitter (talk) 14:51, 4 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done. Would someone please update the old ArchiveBot user page?
