Description |
Located on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the Dome of the Rock (dating to AD 691) marks a significant site for two religions. In Judaism, the Foundation Stone beneath the Dome is thought to be the place where Adam, Cain, Abel, and Noah offered sacrifices to God (Talmud); and where Abraham bound his son Isaac for sacrifice (Bible). In Islam, it is thought to be where Muhammad departed on a spiritual night journey to heaven. |
