OS X[edit]

Firefox 3.5 on OS X freezes and requires Force Quit on many attempt to encode from firefogg.org page.

If the crash is repeatable consider filing a bug with firefogg's bug tracker Mdale (talk) 07:15, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Does not work[edit]

Upload of .flv file using Firefox 3.6.6 and firefogg build into upload form does not work for me. I get Transcode and upload in progress (do not close this window) 0% transcoded Time remaining: and the uploads never starts. --Jarekt (talk) 03:22, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removed from project page, section is inaccurate[edit]

This section is invalid. The upload page has no links to install firefogg with the media beta support enabled or disable, and does not accept arbitrary file type uploads.

Also, currently nowhere in the user's preferences is mwEmbed mentioned. It's instead called the multimedia beta support option.

  • Using Firefox web browser, visit upload page with the mwEmbed gadget enabled.
  • Then click "install firefogg" link below the upload button.
  • Restart firefox, and revisit the page. You should now be able to upload arbitrary video files and have firefogg convert them automatically.

Tip: Click the "enable mwEmbed gadget for all pages" button at the top of the page to enable firefogg gadget for all pages.

This is still invalid. Interface:Other in my Preferences tab does not have anything about "multimedia beta support." Nor is it anywhere else under preferences. Does this mean I can just upload away once I convert? Daniel Case (talk) 15:09, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

video thumbnail[edit]

hi, i just transcoded my first video using firefogg - just fine!

Video is fine, thumbnail image is misleading

however, it shows a thumbnail which is misleading. in this case the still image shows the interpreter at a press conference, not the main persons talking. how can i change this? did firefogg do this? thanks, Maximilian (talk) 13:53, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Error[edit]

I have installed Firefogg on my Mozilla Browser (v 17.0.1.) picked a mp4 file an my pc and received the errror message "No media detected, can not convert this file". But I know this file is not corrupted. I imagine how many people are repelled by such technical problems from loading up their videos on Commons. My hope was to learn on this project site what file formats firefox can transcode. "it should support most files you have" - give aditionally a long list of files. For transcoding my videos with VLC I can't also find help on Commons. I am not a Mac or Linux guy, I can't work with command line instructions. Firefogg depends on ffmpeg I think. And ffmpeg can read mp4. Therefore it seems that the mp4 is broken. This can be fixed but I am not sure which one is the easiest way for you. --McZusatz (talk) 14:07, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
