  • English: In addition to his catalogue for smaller and middle-sized images, Gloeden kept a third, distinct catalogue (with its own numbering from # 1 to roughly # 300), for images taken with its largest camera (of the three he owned, which allowed him to shoot negatives as big as cm 30x40 cm). An example of the 3 available sizes can be seen in this catalogue sheet). This camera was a gift he received in 1895, so this catalogue must have created after this year.
Not all of these images were shot using the biggest camera from the start: some bigger images were in fact re-shot from a smaller positive print, with a new negative glass and a different catalogue number entering Gloeden's collection. This implies that the some shots can be found in Gloeden's catalogue in different sizes, bearing different numbers. To avoid confusion here, a letter "G" (from Italian "Grande", i.e. "big") was added in this catalogue before numbers.
Magnification of smaller size images resultued in magnification of imperfections, leading sometimes the artist to heavily retouching on the negatives.
Glass negatives that big were cumbersome and the risk of breaking them was high: Gloeden therefore also esperimented with paper and carbon negatives in these sizes. Some outcomes of these experimentations, whose negative was taken from a positive, look mirrored in comparison with the original shot.
Bigger prints, being more costly, are fewer in number and today are rarer to find.
