Why is it...[edit]

That the template is set up so that when people try to edit a user talk page, they're redirected to edit the template page instead? AnonMoos (talk) 05:53, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Because it contains a heading. It's supposed to be subst'd to avoid this. Rocket000 (talk) 12:59, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Would it be good to substitute the transclusions with a bot (with botflag, I assume that this will not trigger the orange bar and email notification, or?) --Martin H. (talk) 15:50, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done with my bot (no orange bar). Rocket000 (talk) 21:26, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Rocket --Martin H. (talk) 21:49, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Add additional language to existing block templates[edit]

Proposal to add additional language to existing block templates

Proposal has almost unanimous support, so I'm closing this as successful. I've updated the English version of the templates, but other languages will need to be updated as well. Please help with this if you can, by editing the various language subpages (e.g. Template:Blocked/ca). Guanaco (talk) 09:09, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Confusing grammar for indef blocks[edit]

When a block has a finite duration, for example, 1 hour, the header and box say "You have been blocked for a duration of 1 hour". But when blocked indefinitely, it says "You have been blocked for a duration of indefinitely". It should instead say "You have been blocked indefinitely". It seems the same in all languages. And when looking at the interface in other languages, "indefinitely" is not translated either. The individual translations of Template:Blocked and Template:Blocked/heading should special-case |1=indefinitely to use the translated term for "indefinitely" rather than the translated term for "a duration of" followed by the literal {{{1}}} string. DMacks (talk) 14:17, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, sometimes I hear that userpages may also marked as {{Blocked}} and on the opposite, {{Blocked user}} used by some sysops to notify a blocked user. Probably {{Blocked user}} should not have texts like "If you believe this block is unjustified, you may add...below this message" Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 05:24, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
