Wikicode[edit]

Shouldn't the documentation mention the wikicode that should be used as well..? Ciell (talk) 12:53, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No documented process for identity verification[edit]

This template is for verified accounts. Accounts become verified when a COM:VRT agent performs identity verification which matches the wiki account to an off-wiki non-virtual identity.

Is it correct that there is no documentation of the process for identity verification? I am aware that it happens, but the process not written anywhere, right? Bluerasberry (talk) 20:59, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Bluerasberry, we have no documentation of procedures beyond what is mentioned in Commons:Username_policy#Well-known_names_and_names_of_organizations. Basically, the procedure is the same as for the enwp account verification. Different cases will ask for a different approach, but we mainly rely on identification services of other platforms, or verify through the users' personalized website. Note that this template is not to verify uploads, but to verify correct usage of usernames.
Looking at the case of File:Chinchilla Café presents 2023-08-17.png (assuming this is the reason for your question?), VRT needs better evidence for the origin of the upload: verification of the username is not necessary imho. Let me try and weigh in on the VRT Noticeboard. Ciell (talk) 14:14, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
