[12/04/21] I disagree with the Commons policy Commons:Project scope/Neutral point of view. I believe it allows false information and conspiracy theories to be spread across multiple Wikipedias, due to Commons' abdication of any responsibility for the basic truthfulness and verifiability of images it hosts. I have witnessed this first hand in the case of ethno-nationalist conflicts, where one Wikipedia has removed falsified imagery, only for it to be re-used in another language because Commons refuses to delete files created or modified with clear intent to mislead. This contradicts Commons' educational purpose. Individual sister projects do not have the resources to challenge the use of Commons files found to be purposefully manipulated when they are used across multiple projects.
