Category discussion warning

Ogives has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Uniformity?

[edit]

Uniformity in one category causes the opposite in another. Please see Category:Trevi fountain - at night. Please have a look to Category:Illuminated fountains in Italy. Please try searching for Category: intitle:/ - at night/ (at the moment 9 results) and Category: intitle:/ at night/ -intitle:/ - at night/ (at the moment 5.588 results). Uniformity? Really? I recommend that the renaming be reversed. Perhaps the other categories of the Trevi Fountain should be renamed. What do you think? --XRay 💬 08:17, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello XRay. I don't agree. If you see Category:Trevi fountain there are more categories that follow this pattern (name of the fountain) - "at night" or "details" or "frontal views", etc. In the category you sent me only two categories follow the other pattern. Artlejandra (talk) 08:27, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The search results actually speak a clear language. Less than 0.2 percent of the results match the naming scheme you selected. The hyphenated categories clearly stand out. --XRay 💬 09:26, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, reverse it please. Artlejandra (talk) 10:04, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Trevi fountain

[edit]

My English skills aren't great, but don't you capitalize "fountain" for proper names like "Trevi Fountain"? As in en:Trevi Fountain? --XRay 💬 08:27, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I just follow the pattern of the main category and it's not capitalized. Maybe it should be named with its original Italian name "Fontana di Trevi". Artlejandra (talk) 08:29, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Proper names are possible, please read COM:LP and COM:CAT. In this case the English name should be redirected to the proper name. --XRay 💬 09:12, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect, you can change it as you prefer. :) Artlejandra (talk) 10:03, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unable to find File:Pop Goes the Weasel melody.PNG in source book

[edit]

On the Talk page of File:Pop Goes the Weasel melody.PNG, IP contributor 18.29.9.156 claims that the "3rd to last note reads as a D, should be an F." A cursory online search for "Pop Goes the Weasel music sheet" corroborates this claim, as does the existence of File:Pop Goes the Weasel updated.png, which incorporates the aforementioned correction. Before correcting the image or redirecting it to the updated version, I wanted to check whether your version was perhaps an accurate representation of the source, but I was not able to find any reference to Pop Goes the Weasel in the source you provided:

Kliewer, Vernon (1975). "Melody: Linear Aspects of Twentieth-Century Music", Aspects of Twentieth-Century Music, p.270-301. Wittlich, Gary (ed.). Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey: Prentice-Hall. ISBN 0-13-049346-5

Is this the correct source? The book can be rented for free on the Internet Archive's openlibrary.org service: https://openlibrary.org/books/OL18723309M/Aspects_of_twentieth-century_music -- Iketsi (talk) 12:39, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Iketsi
I copied this file from English wikipedia. It's created by user: Hyacinth. I don't know about the source, I just copied the information with the file. This file should be changed to the updated version in the pages that use it. Artlejandra (talk) 08:27, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
