Edwin Land

Thanks for your quick response. I heard one of his last lectures in Rm 10-250 at MIT. Who among us could contact his foundation (or owner of photos) to ask that a few be donated to Commons? Doug youvan (talk) 03:08, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Feel free to ask them yourself and follow the steps at Commons:OTRS -- Common Good (talk) 20:06, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
File:Katmai-Bay.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Re-Nominate for Deletion?

Tasting_a_condom.jpg is out of scope and potentially child porn or abuse. You carry a lot of weight around here; I don't. Would you consider re-nominating that image for deletion? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dost_test. Doug youvan (talk) 15:54, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

I will not nominate it. I do not think it is child porn. Feel free to nominate it yourself. "Out of scope" is not a valid reason in this case (see last DR). -- Common Good (talk) 21:09, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for your advice on "out of scope". To me, this seems like a regional matter. That photo would most likely get one arrested by an attempt to print in the MidWest of the USA. On the other hand, I am a strong advocate of the First Amendment. So, I will refrain from a deletion attempt. You can mark this as resolved. I'm amazed at the amount of work you do! Doug youvan (talk) 00:27, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Could you comment ...

here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump#.2410.2C000_Donation_to_the_WMF.2C_if_... We do not seem to be converging on a consensus.

redir deletion

Hallo Common Good, please do not delete redirs like File:Kdk_0473.jpg. Redirs are there for a reason (alleviate the negative effects of moves). Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 17:45, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

See also m:User:Krinkle/Don't delete redirects. However this wasn't a redirect, it was a duplicate upload. The delete reason contains a link to the new file if it is still used somewhere people fill find the new filename. You could re-create the page as a redirect if you want to. –Krinkletalk 18:55, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Oh, right. Usually duplicates are processed via a script which automatically creates a redir. No reason to don't do that here. Done so now. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 19:22, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Does this category still need the "discussion" template you put there? There seems to be no active discussion. Peter coxhead (talk) 11:11, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Re:File:FindelsecuestroalacaceroladaenSol.ogg

Hi. I wonder what's the problem with File:FindelsecuestroalacaceroladaenSol.ogg that you have just deleted. According with the original video in YouTube, this file is licensed under Creative Commons 3.0-By license. I took special care to check the license when I uploaded this video and two others from YouTube. Thanks in advance. Montgomery (talk) 19:50, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

I had checked all those files. Only the other two files were licensed under CC. Now this file is also licensed under CC. I just restored it. -- Common Good (talk) 20:10, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
I'm sure that the video was licensed under Creative Commons 3.0-By when I uploaded it. Anyway, CC licenses are irrevocable. Montgomery (talk) 20:31, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Hey Common Good, you've Quick Deleted a Flickr image: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hugo90/4575619768/ that I've uploaded without even consulting me, you claim that its a Copyright violation: http://www.cocheargentino.com.ar/t/teram.htm when its the only image that is NOT marked property of www.cocheargentino.com.ar [1], come on dude, i mean Common Good, they've probably uploaded that image from Flickr themselves and put it on their site, please don't be so quick to jump to conclusions, www.cocheargentino.com.ar is using the image most likely because is in Public domain!!, need response, cheers — Moebiusuibeom-en (talk) 02:04, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:PundalikAd.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Speedy deletion of file File:Nando_Parrado_trail.png

Thank you for helping me delete the file http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Volcan-tinguiririca-2.svg. Could you please help me to delete the file http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Nando_Parrado_trail.png too?

Both files were failed attempts to correct and upgrade the file File:Volcan-tinguiririca.svg. At first I did not have an SVG-editor, so I made a .png version, this file. I noticed it was faulty, and not an .svg as it should have been, so I downloaded the SVG-editor Inkscape and made a new attempt, but it was a failed attempt too. Both were unintentionally cropped. My third attempt was successful and has now replaced the faulty map which was there earlier. I have done this correction in cooperation with the original maker of the map, so there is no problem with the new map. The only problem is that I left two failed attempts behind on commons.wikimedia.org. I tried adding the template Template:Db-g6 to both of them, but it only worked on the map you just deleted. On the file http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Nando_Parrado_trail.png it did not work. Can you take a look at it and see what needs to be done to delete it? The file is not used in any article, so it should be no problem to do a speedy delete. If you reply you can do it here. I keep an eye on both the file and your talk page. Hello, I uploaded two more versions of the SIII home screen. The first has a different stock UX wallpaper which is mostly covered by widgets, whereas the second is the default wallpaper from ICS (and is available under the CCA 2.5 license). Please check if any of them are acceptable for keeping on Commons; the other versions and nominated files can be safely deleted. --Illythr (talk) 19:03, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Deleted the dandelion images and answerded at the DR. -- Common Good (talk) 20:22, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Why did you revert me? Probably is the licence incorrect because i dont think that there are a permission from Sony Music for publishing under a free licence. Cheers --Codc (talk) 19:37, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

You requested "a link to a site with an explicit grant of permission" which has been already provided at the time of the upload. The license has already been reviewed by User:Lymantria and before I have reverted your edit I did the same. So there is no reason to ask again for a permission which is available. However, feel free to start a deletion request if you think the Sony BMG account at mynewsdesk.com is a fake. -- Common Good (talk) 20:22, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
