Permission for files

Hi, to grant permission for usage emails have been sent by the original author of the two files (https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ENg3WbrXsAENlAW.jpg and https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Gere%C5%9F%C3%BBn.jpg) which you've left warnings about permission on my user talk. I hope it is okay now? Thank you. Pispor (talk) 23:28, 5 January 2020 (UTC)

One of the tickets was already handled, the other will probably follow soon. --Didym (talk) 22:22, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello! :)

You decided to keep ‚Sarah von Neuburg 2015.jpg

There was a discussion to delete this foto because the fotographer and the shown person want it to delete because of the poor quality. At this time there were no better fotos in wiki... but now there are much better fotos than this here. So I think it‘s a reason to delete it now!

What do you think?! — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 109.41.130.50 (talk) 22:44, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

This is still our only image of Sarah von Neuburg, apart from 6 copyright violations. Also, those other photos are certainly not of better quality. --Didym (talk) 23:01, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
Why should this be a copyright Violence! I am a friend of this person and made this foto by myself...?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mimimi841 (talk • contribs) 23:16, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
Photos of this small resolution with massive compression artifacts and no metadata are usually stolen from the internet. If you are the photographer, please upload the file in full camera resolution with intact Exif-data to prove your authorship. File:Sarah von Neuburg mit Lars Christian Karde bei der Moderation ‚Weihnachten bei uns‘.jpg looks better, but as this image can be found on various other sites, it needs a permission via OTRS. --Didym (talk) 23:33, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
I made this photo with my mobilephone... and then I did a filter with a app... So I think after this there is no EXIF Data anymore?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mimimi841 (talk • contribs) 23:54, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
Again: upload the original file, not the small version without any Exif data. --Didym (talk) 14:32, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

Alfred Lang-Willar

Dear Didym,

Alfred Lang-Willar and his wife Suzanne Picard were the grand-parents of my wife. The photos included in their Wiki contribution belong to our family. Sincerely.--89.2.68.154 16:03, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

Owning a copy of the photo does not necessarily mean you also own its copyright. The photographs might however be in the public domain, but we need to know the photographer to determine this. --Didym (talk) 16:08, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
Alfred Lang-Willar and his wife died in 1932. Those photos were taken almost one hundred years ago by unknown photographers, for family purpose. They have always been in the family. Sincerely--Barbette47 (talk) 16:18, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
As copyright usually lasts 70+1 years after the death of the author, even photographs from before 1900 can still be copyrighted. --Didym (talk) 16:22, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

The "File:DSC1021-2.jpg" has been deleted by mistake

Dear Didym,

Yesterday, I suggested to delete the File:DSC1021-2.jpg beacause I thought that user:Barbette47 had copied the picture from the Web. But a few time after my request, Barbette47 confirmed that he is well the photograph who has taken the picture. I tried to cancel my request (see Commons:Deletion requests/File:DSC1021-2.jpg) but you have deleted it today. What can we do to restore the photo? --Delsaut (talk) 16:46, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

As the image was published before it was uploaded on Commons, we need a permission via OTRS. --Didym (talk) 16:49, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

File:Audi TT 2014 (13558812864).jpg

Hi DIdym, Inre File:Audi TT 2014 (13558812864).jpg - If the Audi in the image was photoshopped out could the image then be kept ?, I'm assuming so but figured I'd ask first, Many thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:12, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

Probably. I am not sure if the symbols around it are eligible for copyright, but the main concern is certainly the car. --Didym (talk) 18:16, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
Many thanks, I've photoshopped the car out and the phone that's in it :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:59, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
Please tell me when you have uploaded the new version, then I will hide the old version. --Didym (talk) 22:31, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi, Sorry I've since asked Alexis if they could do it as my photoshopping isn't exactly the greatest!, If Alexis cannot do this then my next port of call is the helpdesk, I appreciate it seems a lot of messing around however given the image is being used in like 5-10 articles there's clearly a need for the image so I'd rather keep and modify than delete and see those 5-10 articles all go without,
Anyway thanks for being patient, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 00:38, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi again, Thanks for waiting, The problematic bits have been blurred by Alexis now, Thanks again for waiting, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:13, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
I have deleted the original version now. --Didym (talk) 22:33, 14 January 2020 (UTC)

Alfred Lang-Willar

Dear Didym,

I have found a photo of Alfred Lang-Willar in my wife's family archives. The photo was taken in 1917 by Suzanne Picard, wife of Alfred Lan-Willar. Considering that Suzanne Picard died with her husband in 1932 in a plane crash, the copyrights have expired. Could I be authorized to publish that photo through Wikimedia commons to illustrate the Infobox of Alfred Lang-Willar wikipedia page. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely--Barbette47 (talk) 13:05, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

You can upload this with {{PD-old-auto-expired}} or {{PD-old-auto-unpublished}}. --Didym (talk) 22:58, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
I have just uploaded a new photo of Alfred Lang-Willar. But I am afraid I did it in a wrong way. I was supposed to use the template {{PD-old-auto-expired}} or {{PD-old-auto-unpublished}}. But I didn't know how to use it. Could you please delete my photo and explain me how to proceed in an accurate way. Thank you for helping.--Barbette47 (talk) 14:28, 17 January 2020 (UTC)--Barbette47 (talk) 14:30, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

The template is the license, not the file name. I have moved the file to a meaningful name and changed the license to PD-old-auto-unpublished. The source is still missing, could you add it? --Didym (talk) 14:51, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

Uploaded Images

Good afternoon! You notified me that the images that I uploaded may be deleted. What is the problem. Some of them are my own work, some are downloaded from a site from which many other photos are used, but there are no problems with them. In addition, all the sites from which I took the images indicate that the use of their materials is permissible if a link is provided. I pointed to all of them both the site and the author. Please clarify. Каракорум (talk) 16:09, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

Where do the sources mention a CC license? --Didym (talk) 16:15, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

The last two of those that you mentioned are my own works:
File: Fountain "Victory" Sevastopol.jpg
File: Sevastopol Historical Park (map) .jpg

Another one taken from the site on which the files are indicated as free:
File: Tauris track.jpg

Image File: Group Blow Tu 22M3.jpg, taken from the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, from which a significant number of other photos were taken without problems, what is the problem here?

The rest of the images, as I said, are taken from sites on which the use of their materials is allowed with a link Каракорум (talk) 16:18, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

All materials of the Internet portal of the Ministry of Defense of Russia are available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license

Can I free uplode files from this website - http://krymology.info? Каракорум (talk) 17:01, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
Why are those last two files so small? Also, the sign on File:Исторический парк Севастополя (карта).jpg is copyrighted, so you can't upload it, even if you are the photographer. On File:Групповой Удар Ту 22М3.jpg and File:Трасса Таврида.jpg, you did not use the correct license, however the images appear to be under CC by 4.0 and can be kept. For the rest, I am unable to find a free license statement or even see restrictions like not allowing commercial reuse. Regarding krymology.info, you better ask someone who speaks Russian. --Didym (talk) 22:39, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

Ok. But why they deleted my pages? Md Tanbir Islam (talk) 15:54, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

Zainul Abedin died in 1976. This means you can't upload his works until 2037 (60 years after death). As you have removed the deletion tags multiple times, I did not see any option but to speedy delete the files. All your other uploads do not fall within our project scope. --Didym (talk) 23:11, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

Deleted files

So,how i upload the pictures? Please tell me — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marinette97 (talk • contribs) 17:17, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

Are there still questions after reading COM:L? --Didym (talk) 18:33, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

Author question

  1. Could you please have a look at this: File:Sunset, Foto von Johanna Varner.jpg. The title of the picture states that is made by Johanna Varner. Also in the two articles where the picture is used it says that the picture is made by Johanna Varner. However, the summary states that the author is Maxi Buck. I would think it needs additional permission from Johanna Varner. --VanBuren (talk) 15:30, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
  2. Additional question: for this picture File:Toeringconcert oostum.jpg the mentioned author is Johanna varner, however the uploader is Maxi Buck. It is unclear that they are the same. Plus another detail is that for this picture the author is a person with the name Holly Moors (she is an artist see google) See the text with the picture on nl:Dick Toering. --VanBuren (talk) 15:47, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
Even if Maxi Buck is Johanna Varner, those files need a permission. --Didym (talk) 16:45, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Files deletion

What is my fault? Every time you wanted to delete my files. Why are you doing this with me? Please Md Tanbir Islam (talk) 18:09, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

You have uploaded nothing but copyright violations and crap. Please read COM:L and COM:PS. --Didym (talk) 22:04, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

Please check my uploads

Could you please check all my uploads from 27 December to today? I have a feeling some might have the same problem as the Swedish bibles you nominated for deletion, especially those in this category. Veverve (talk) 15:57, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

There are a few more files, now collected in Category:Files by User:Veverve with incorrect 2D license. --Didym (talk) 16:41, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
I agree for some and disagree for others. I have fixed the issue on most images, could you check again now?
I plan to fix the remaining images once the category is less cluttered. Veverve (talk) 17:23, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
Could you also check this? Veverve (talk) 17:33, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
The current version of File:Frontispiece of the Sixtine Vulgate 3.png seems to be OK. Cases as File:Biblia Vulgata lovaniensis 1559 2.jpg are a bit more complicated, this is certainly a photograph, but it might require a discussion to determine if this creates a new copyrighted work or not. File:Bible de Louvain 1550 cover 3.jpg is a 3D object, just have a look at the metal parts. --Didym (talk) 22:53, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
I know the object in itself is in 3D, but the picture of it is merely that of the cover, taken from a top down view; there is no depth or relief, hence why I believe it qualifies as 2D. Also, please try to have a look at the images I cropped in Category:Files by User:Veverve with incorrect 2D license and remove what has been fixed. Veverve (talk) 23:14, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
I uploaded a higher resolution version of File:Frontispiece_of_the_Sixtine_Vulgate_3.png and cropped it. Could you remove the 15:50, 28 February 2020 and 17:27, 28 February 2020 versions? Veverve (talk) 15:55, 28 February 2020 (UTC)
Furthermore, could you check File:Vulgata Sixtina - title page 2.png? Veverve (talk) 16:53, 28 February 2020 (UTC)
File:Vulgata Sixtina - title page 2.png seems to be OK. Most of the other images will probably require a removal of everything but the book page itself. For the cover of the Bible de Louvain, I actually don't see a way to keep the images. --Didym (talk) 21:16, 28 February 2020 (UTC)
"For the cover of the Bible de Louvain, I actually don't see a way to keep the images." Ok, delete those two images then.
I have already cropped most of the images tagged, what is the problem for those? User:BevinKacon also believes the issue is fixed as far as those five images are concerned, I therefore believe they should be removed from the category because there is no problem anymore. Veverve (talk) 00:13, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
I'm actually not sure if that cropping is sufficient. There are still some 3D parts at the edge that may be a problem. Is there any reason not to crop the images to a 2D only part? --Didym (talk) 22:13, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
Well, CropTool does not allow me to crop more and to keep the totality of the pages at the same time,. Veverve (talk) 22:33, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
Is losing some of the blank parts of the page really an issue? Otherwise, you could crop a lot more away from most of the images. --Didym (talk) 22:19, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
I will try to use other tools. Veverve (talk) 22:57, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
Could you see if the mages in are now ok? Veverve (talk) 15:28, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
I have removed the category from 15 files now. The rest still needs some cropping, at least in my opinion. --Didym (talk) 16:09, 2 March 2020 (UTC)

File deletion

Initially my file:Лукьянов С. Ю..jpg was tagged for deletion because I have chosen the wrong license. After it I tried to change license type to correct one (as I undertand it). This photo was taken by my grand mother and I am her heir. As I am newbie in wikipedia, maybe I did something wrong, tell me, what am I to correct to keep this image? Trueman (talk) 20:14, 2 March 2020 (UTC)

Could you also add this information at the deletion request? I have converted the speedy deletion to a regualar deletion request because there may be copyright issues, but not necessarily. --Didym (talk) 14:20, 3 March 2020 (UTC)

copyrighted photo Nina McIntire.jpg

Didym,

I an quite new to wiki so please forgive my ignorance. But I believe you marked this photo as a potential copyright. But it is not. I emailed Nina McIntire and ask for a photo of her and she sent this photo to me with the intention that I use it in the wiki page. If I need her to state so, I suspect she will.

What do I need to do in order to use this photo on her page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gjm34 (talk • contribs) 20:09, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

@Gjm34: Allow me to answer for Didym: Commons:OTRS. Also, please sign your messages with ~~~~ Veverve (talk) 20:20, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

Category to check

Cound you check ? Also, I took the liberty to fix File:Walton Polyglot.jpg. Tell me which images in the category have a copyright issue but are salvageable, and I will fix them. Veverve (talk) 04:58, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

On File:Sixto-Clementine Vulgate (1598) - Old Testament table of content.jpg, File:Bellarmine's Disputationes, volume 2, 2nd edition, 1591.jpg, File:Gustav Vasas bibel 1541 - Lukas.jpg and File:Gustav Vasas bibel 1541 - Markus.jpg, you could crop the image to the flat page, solving the issue. For the two book covers, I am not sure if there is any way to make them 2D. The open books may need two separate crops for each page, but I am not sure about that. Maybe we should start a new deletion request for the latter cases to clarify this, and only modify the files if the outcome is that more cropping is needed. --Didym (talk) 22:35, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
I have fixed what I believe needed to be fixed. To me, File:Gustav Vasas bibel 1541 - Markus.jpg and File:Bellarmine's Disputationes, volume 2, 2nd edition, 1591.jpg do not need to be cropped.
If you believe in doing a RfD for some images within then do it.
Could you also check File:Alfred_Rahlfs'_edition_of_the_Septuagint,_2_vol.,_1935_(2).jpg and File:Alfred Rahlfs' edition of the Septuagint, 2 vol., 1935 (2) (cropped).jpg?
Veverve (talk) 23:04, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
I have now started new DR for the remaining files. This also includes the four files you mentioned above, as I think we need more opinions on this cases. If the outcome is keep without further cropping, I am also fine with this. --Didym (talk) 21:07, 17 March 2020 (UTC)

File tagging File:Issacs Fury Mk 1 (G-ASCM, 1964).jpg

I think I've done enough. I contacted the author (owner) of the image and he agreed to post it on Wiki Commons. That ends for me. I cannot contact OTRS and explain. 109.164.115.44 05:48, 19 March 2020 (UTC), sorry: Ltosnar (talk) 05:49, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

The file is not only missing a valid permission, but also a license. As only the copyright owner (usually the author) can license a file, the only way to keep this file is to ask the photographer to send a statement to OTRS. --Didym (talk) 19:31, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

File:Pavelló municipal. Fira juliol Valéncia. 1929.jpg. File Falla Sant Miquel

--LuisMM54321 (talk) 15:55, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

So why did you claim those old images as own work? Based on your previous copyright violations, I can't trust you with the remaining image where you tell me it is taken by yourself. --Didym (talk) 17:12, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

..............................

--LuisMM54321 (talk) 17:31, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

Dear Didym: for the image File:Edward L. G. Bowell.JPEG, which you tagged with {{No permission since|month=March|day=19|year=2020}}, I have now contacted the owners by email and requested explicit permission. Can you please delay scheduled deletion of the image until further notice? Rfassbind -talk 20:48, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

--Didym (talk) 22:57, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

The three files deleted by you fall under acceptable use via the Wiki policy on non-free images. These images were posted on Douglas Mastriano's official Campaign Facebook page during his campaign for election. As such they constitute ads for his candidacy. These are acceptable use types. Within the same subsection they also lend themselves to being the subject of commentary which is an acceptable image use. Cslewisster (talk) 06:28, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

Old French postcards

Dear Didym

This question is about the deletion request of old French postcards: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_uploaded_by_Rc1959

I did absolutely my best to document them, and there were absolutely similar to thousands of similar postcards in Wikimedia Commons. So why were mine finally deleted ? What should have I done and was it possible to keep them ? Many thanks in advance, because I acted in good faith and have absolutely no personal benefit in this. Many many thanks in advance. Rc1959 (talk) 08:13, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

Without data on the author and their date of death, there is no way to keep these files. Even for photographs taken before 1900, there is a chance the photographer lived until 1950 or later, which makes them still copyrighted. If there are similar postcards on Commons, that might be a reason to also nominate them for deletion. --Didym (talk) 15:59, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
Many thanks Didym, this is exactly the simple, logical, straight and unambiguous response I needed since the beginning. Another question please: Are such deleted pictures kept "somewhere" in Commons, so they can be restored in 2050 for example ? Thanks again. Rc1959 (talk) 07:52, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
We have the subcategories of Category:Undeletion requests, but without knowing the year the author died, it's hard to set the year for undeletion. --Didym (talk) 16:14, 28 March 2020 (UTC)

I have requested undeletion as this file is needed for a wiki article. --Krage52 (talk) 11:12, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

What makes you think a 1924 book cover with unknown illustrator is in the PD? In Norway, copyright lasts 70 years after the author's death, which in this case means the author must have died in or before 1949 to make this PD. If we do not know the author, we cannot assume this. --Didym (talk) 15:56, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
The author Alexander Bugge died in 1929. And like I have already pointed out, the book (including the cover, I would think) is made available in the public domain by the Norwegian National Library. In the book there is no mention of the illustrator´s name, but I doubt that the Norwegian National Library would have made this book available if it violated any rules. And I would accordingly never upload the file if this wasn´t the case. I need this file for some wiki work and I am still requesting for undeletion. --Krage52 (talk) 16:38, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
As the file is already undeleted now, there is probably no need to continue this discussion. --Didym (talk) 21:51, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

More fantasy diagrams

Hi Didym,

Would you be willing to speedily delete all the fantasy diagrams created by this user, or do I need to make a request via the normal channels? Thank you! --Slashme (talk) 14:35, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

All deleted. But usually, the best way to get rid of such files is to start a regular deletion request. --Didym (talk) 21:56, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

Tommy Nelson Image

Hi Didym,

I saw you deleted my image posted on "Tommy Nelson (Actor)"'s page because you "doubt I own it." This is a weak reason for wanting to do something like this. Next time you want to do something like that, kindly reach out to the user who uploaded it so both parties are at an understanding to avoid these mishaps from occurring.

From what I can tell, you have a history of deleting things without knowing the proper info about what's going on. Kindly refrain from doing this because it just creates unnecessary work needed to maintain the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slasher2point1 (talk • contribs) 00:27, 6 April 2020‎ (UTC)

You are creating unnecessary work by uploading small files without metadata, which indicates they are most probably stolen from somewhere else, and even reuploading them after deletion. --Didym (talk) 12:20, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Then please tell me where I am stealing the image from if you think I am? I see how the conversation with Krage52 went. When you're wrong about a topic, you like to delete information. That's not how a community should be run. Please know your facts before you try engaging in editing other people's work. You end up giving us more work while the only thing we are trying to do is keep information up-to-date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slasher2point1 (talk • contribs) 19:46, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
You have to give evidence this is not a copyright violation, in a regular deletion request, the small size and missing metadata are a sufficient reaon for deletion. In cases where the source can be located, we do not even need a deletion request and the file can be speedy deleted. If you did take this photo, you should be able to upload it in full camera resolution with intact metadata. And if you think only I want to delete this file: the first deletion was made by Krd, not me. --Didym (talk) 23:13, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

restoration of photos and categories

hello, I wrote an article about a known Tunisian youtubeur I would like to restore their photos on commons. These files were deleted for falling outside our project scope, but are also missing a valid permission (the OTRS ticket was never accepted). If you still think those files should be undeleted, please file an undeletion request at COM:UD. --Didym (talk) 22:25, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

Automatic restoration of old French postcards

Dear Didym

Following a discussion about the unfortunate deletion of postcards, Old postcards , you kindly suggested a feature which looks fantastic: We have the subcategories of [Category:Undeletion] requests, but without knowing the year the author died, it's hard to set the year for undeletion. Example: [[1]] If it is proven that a postcard dates from, say 1910 (Because of the stamps, typically), then we can safely set the undelete date in a distant future. say: any date mentionned on the postcard + maximum human longevity (110 years) + 70 years = 2090 in this case. Is it please admissible, and if yes, is it possible to conditionally restore these images in this category ? Many thanks ! Rc1959 (talk) 08:05, 18 April 2020 (UTC)

Per {{PD-old-assumed}}, we assume a file with unknown author is PD after 120 years, so even before 2090 in your example. So if you know the latest possible date of creation, you can add the category for 120 years after this. To add a whole deletion request to the undeletion category, you can use the usual categorization system as here. As deleted files do not appear in categories, adding single files is done like this. --Didym (talk) 17:43, 18 April 2020 (UTC)

Zu löschende Bilder / Images to delete

Hallo, Didym.

Please, you could review this user's contributions as I believe they should be eliminated. The use in Wikipedia articles in Portuguese is incorrect: bad writing, absence of sources and outright refusal on the part of the creator. This, I think is the same as Commons, but editing via ip.

Grüße! Conde Edmond Dantès (talk) 21:03, 30 April 2020 (UTC)

Even if the files were in scope (probably they are not), we can delete them for being copyright violations. --Didym (talk) 21:09, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
Exactly, fictional characters are usually under copyright. The problem that I do not dominate Commons and I prefer to communicate the cases to administrators so that they take the measures they deem appropriate. Greetings. Conde Edmond Dantès (talk) 00:01, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of pictures

Hey, this is regarding the deletion of File:Isluga.jpg and File:Diego de Almagro, Chile.jpg

These pictures are part of {{CC-GobCL}}.

In accordance to ordinance 112/14 (Link in Spanish) issued by the Ministry General Secretariat of Government {{CC-GobCL}} applies to "informative websites of the administration of the state (i.e the country), dependant and related to the central government".

File:Isluga.jpg was originally uploaded by www.goretarapaca.gov.cl/, the official website of the Regional Government of Tarapacá (In Spanish: Gobierno Regional de Tarapacá)

File:Diego de Almagro, Chile.jpg was originally uploaded by www.imda.cl, the official website of the government of the city of Diego de Almadro (In Spanish: Ilustre Municipalidad de Diego de Almagro)

Best regards, AtomsRavelAz (talk) 19:14, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

The only thing I can find regarding copyright on the sources is Todos los derechos reservados. But this might need someone who speaks Spanish, so you might want to ask for undeletion at COM:UD. --Didym (talk) 20:10, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for replying. I wanted to ask, is there something else I can do whenever I upload pictures that fall within {{CC-GobCL}} to certify that that is the case and avoid instances like these again?. For example, I recently uploaded "File:Iván Flores, Loreto Carvajal, Pepe Auth.jpg" which was originally created by the Library of the National Congress of Chile which in accordance to Chilean law falls within {{CC-GobCL}}, what should I do if someone tries to contest this, apart from just linking ordinance 112/14 which talks about this matter. Best regards, AtomsRavelAz (talk) 20:44, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
Complicated. My usual suggestion would be license review, but that's probably not helpful in these cases. --Didym (talk) 13:54, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

Fehlende Lizenz?

--K@rl (talk) 07:43, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

--Didym (talk) 12:48, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Nominating for deletion: File = Brian Healy of Dead Artist Syndrome.jpg

Hello,

This is a photograph of Brian Healy, which he owns and personally asked me to upload. He is now deceased. It should not be deleted. Thank you.

Steven Danver Historyguy1967 (talk) 16:39, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

This was obviously not taken by Brian Healy and, as the file above, needs a permission via COM:OTRS. However, as Healy is no longer alive, there is probably no way to find out the photographer and keep the file. --Didym (talk) 20:07, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi. I just got the notification that you recently deleted File:Anderson_localization_1D_vs_number_of_layers.webm because there was no licence. If there wasn't one it was probably my mistake when uploading it, because I always release all my scientific animations in the public domain (you can check my other uploads). Was the problem just the licence? If yes, would adding a a P0 licence solve the issue? If yes, is it easier for you to un-delete it, or for me to re-upload with the correct licence? Regards Berto (talk) 14:32, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

The actual problem was the missing license. As you did even mention the license on Twitter, I have undeleted the file and added the license. Maybe you can confirm this on the file page to avoid any tagging as missing license/permission. --Didym (talk) 22:13, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. I've added a line in the discussion page confirming I am releasing it in the public domain. I am usually careful to include the licence, but this one time it must have slipped me. Thank you for undeleting. Berto (talk) 08:49, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi, recently you've deleted a Photo which was taken by me , would you please explain what was the problem? thanks-- Arashkardan (talk) 16:55, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Based on the small image size and your history of uploading copyright violations, I seriously doubt your authorship of this photo. --Didym (talk) 23:09, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Very small images missing metadata usually indicate the file was stolen somewhere. If you are the author, you can upload the file in full camera resolution with intact metadata, that might help to prove your authorship. --Didym (talk) 13:57, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Removing Photo

Hi, you removed a photo. That photo was an album cover of the band called "Bullet for my Valentine". I tried to make an album wiki page of Turkish Wikipedia. And then you deleted the photo that I added. So why? What's the point? That was an album cover and of course the photo or picture whatever you call it didn't taken by me. So, adding a band's album cover on wiki is forbidden? If it's yes, so why the same photo exists on the album's wikipedia page? So please tell me what's wrong and how to fix it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nimbusman (talk • contribs) 22:19, 23 June 2020‎ (UTC)

Hi Didym,

May I ask what led you to believe this photo wasn't own work or otherwise requires additional permission? Thanks! --Krinkle 23:53, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

As the uploader claims to be in the photo, which does not look like a selfie, this was probably not own work. --Didym (talk) 22:10, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments 2020

Hallo Didym,

Hi Didym. Would you mind looking at this? When I DR'd this file, I didn't realized that I had previously DR'd another file with the same name back in 2015. This could be simply a re-upload of the same file and I only noticed it because the page appeared on my watchlist earlier today. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:38, 6 September 2020 (UTC)

--Didym (talk) 16:03, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

Artworks previously deleted

Greetings: Please see Commons:Deletion requests/File:Carl Barks painting (4389194619).jpg and other contributions by user who seems to have reuploaded a series which was formerly deleted. Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 21:28, 5 October 2020 (UTC)

As a reupload, this file should actually be eligible for speedy deletion. --Didym (talk) 05:57, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

Viele Bilder umbenennen

Moin Didym,

Perfekt, Danke -- Ra Boe watt?? 14:33, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

Quicker deletions?

Hello! I don't do a lot at Commons, and I wonder:

When I suggest a deletion like [2][3][4], is there some sort of "fairly obvious deletion" template I could add to help things go quicker, or is it in the "big backlog - deal with it" area? These [5][6] are also unlikely to be "own work". Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:02, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

Depending on the circumstances, you can either use the Quick Delete gadget or {{Copyvio}}. If you can't find the source (the Google Images & Tineye gadget may help), the usual way is a regular deletion request. --Didym (talk) 15:46, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:08, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

Why did they erase my drawings?

If on the discussion page I clarify that they were the drawings, however they erased them without foundation. How can I recover the uploaded files?--Htz67 (talk) 07:41, 17 November 2020 (UTC) File:Bandera de Guerra de los Estados Unidos Peru-Bolivianos.png File:Flag of the United States of Perú and Bolivia.png File:Tacnoruro provincias.png File:Potosi de Tarapaca Provincias.png File:Estado del Amazonas.png File:Estado de Ancash.png File:Estado de Huanuco.png File:Estado de La Libertad.png File:Estado de Cajamarca.png File:Estado de Lambayeque.png File:Estado del Callao.png File:Estado de Loreto.png File:Estado de Piura.png File:Estado de Apurimac.png File:Estado de Ica.png File:Estado de Ayacucho.png File:Estado de Huancavelica.png File:Estado de Junín.png File:Estado de Lima.png File:Estado de Puno.png File:Estado de Beni.png File:Estado de Moquegua.png File:Estado de Arequipa.png File:Estado de Cuzco.png File:Estado de Cochabamba.png File:Estado de Tarija.png File:Estado de Santa Cruz.png File:Estado de Chuquisaca.png File:Estado de La Paz.png File:Estados Unidos Perú y Bolivia.png File:Estados Unidos de Perú y Bolivia.png File:Sud Perú (Escudo).png File:Símbolos del Estado Sud Peruano.jpg File:Coat of arms of Bolivia (1826).png File:Emblem of the Peru-Bolivian Confederation.png File:Flag of the Peru-Bolivian Confederation.png File:Coat of arms of Bolivia (1851).png File:Sello de Bolivia (1826).png File:Pabellón de los Estados Unidos Peruano Bolivianos.png File:Eeuu peru bolivia2.png File:State flag of Bolivar Republic (1825-1826).png File:State flag of Bolivia (1826).png File:Civil flag of Bolivar Republic (1825-1826).png File:Civil flag of Bolivia (1826).png --Htz67 (talk) 07:41, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

If you are the creator of all the flags, logos and maps (not just the images, also the designs and basemaps), you can request undeletion at COM:UD. --Didym (talk) 19:27, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

This message is to notify that I challenged all your nominations. Generally in Poland photo made for official documents is considered as a containing no original work more any original work is prohibited by law. Anyway 2/3 photographs was made before 1989, one one is obvious File:Anna Jasinska.jpg, because Anna Jasińska died before this date. I changed licence tag for them to avoid future unnecessary time consuming considerations. Wishing you health in times of COVID-19 pandemia.--Fallaner (talk) 07:07, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

File:Czesław Strzeszewski.jpg is still missing a valid license. --Didym (talk) 11:17, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

File:Binghamton Court House on old post cards.jpg

Hi, please let me know what is wrong with the tag I put on file:Binghamton Court House on old post cards.jpg. These are images of old postcards that are no longer under copyright. I challenged your speedy deletion. --Sanya3 (talk) 03:48, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

PD-ineligible is obviously not applicable to these postcards. You can probably use a PD-old license, but to determine the copyright status, we need to know the year of creation/publication and/or the author. --Didym (talk) 11:17, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
They are from the 1920s, but I don't have exact dates.--Sanya3 (talk) 20:12, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
You cannot use PD-old-70 (which is the same as PD-old) on an image from the 1920s with unknown author, as the author could have lived for more than 30 years after creation. You can use PD-US-expired if all those postcards were published before 1925, if they were published in or after 1925 we need more information to determine if PD-US-no notice or PD-US-not renewed is applicable. --Didym (talk) 23:04, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
They were official USPS postcards though. Does that change anything? --Sanya3 (talk) 05:02, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
Did the USPS ever create postcards? If those postcards are USPS works, they are eligible for PD-USGov. --Didym (talk) 21:36, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
Hmm. Now I am confused. I am not even sure I will able to track down the person who gave these and find out for sure. --Sanya3 (talk) 07:17, 26 November 2020 (UTC)

File:Dumfriesshire Hounds.jpeg

Hello Didym, I left a message for you and JuTa at File talk:Dumfriesshire Hounds.jpeg, I am unsure if you got the ping. As I described there, as far as I am aware I had the permission of the photograph’s creator to publish it, before requesting undeletion do you have any evidence that what I was wrong in my assumptions? Cavalryman (talk) 12:20, 1 December 2020 (UTC).

Unless you have a public source with a free license, the author has to contact COM:OTRS to confirm the release of a free license. --Didym (talk) 22:13, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello Didym, I see you tagged some of my works as not being original. I checked the definition and all but one of them [[7]] are my own work. So please modify your request to only include that one photo. Thank you. joelrsmith(talk) —Preceding comment was added at 23:02, 4 December 2020‎ (UTC)

This is actually a reason to delete them all, why should we trust you after you claimed this was your own work? --Didym (talk) 23:24, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Razvan Petrescu's Wikipedia photo

Good day. The photos (two) I presented on my Wikipedia page are 1. the work of MY wife (the one taken in 1978 - the reason of the small resolution being that it was shot in Romania, comunist country, comunist photo cameras, in this case a soviet one, MY Zenith; and 2, the second photo is taken by MY son, with MY photo camera, also in my country, in 2008. The reason that these two photos are not on Google is because they are in my personal archive! I really don't see any seriously reason you can possibly tell it's not my work, meaning I don't have the copyright. Except you want at any costs to offend me. December 19 2020 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Razvanrpetrescu (talk • contribs) 07:59, 19 December 2020‎ (UTC)

So both photos are not your own work and the author (not you) has to contact OTRS. --Didym (talk) 21:35, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Dean Headshot

hello Didym: I am trying to write a page called Dean Huh; this IS my [photo taken at his home in Rhode Island. I do not know how to delete the tux photo — Preceding unsigned comment added by AHS9966 (talk • contribs) 19:34, 22 December 2020‎ (UTC)

If you did take this photo, you can reupload it in full camera resolution with intact Exif data to prove your authorship. --Didym (talk) 21:53, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
