Summary[edit]

Description
English: Two mathematical topics addressed in Wikipedia are Jacobson Radical, and Yang-Baxter Equation. Radical rings, and nilpotent rings (a subclass of radical rings) are rings that are equal to their Jacobson radicals, and can be shown to yield solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation, as this discussion shows. The quest to understand solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation has been an active area of research in abstract algebra since the problem was posed by V. G. Drinfel'd in an address to the International Congress of Mathematicians in 1990 entitled "On unsolved problems in quantum group theory". This file is the first of several I hope to prepare, one of which will relate radical rings to generalizations of Galois theory of fields, generalizations that do not show up in the pages on Galois Theory and Galois Extensions or on the page on Hopf Algebras on Wikipedia.
