Welcome, support votes[edit]
You seem to have accidentally voted twice under Commons:Village pump/Proposals#MEI/Verovio; I amalgamated your votes, hope you don't mind. Please let me know if I've misunderstood something. Welcome to Commons, by the way! It's good to have you and your expertise around. HLHJ (talk) 01:48, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
- Ah! I didn't know it was a 'vote' -- I just thought they were supporting points. I'll keep that in mind, but thank you for amalgamating them.--Ahankins (talk) 10:34, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Humdrum[edit]
Can you tell me if Humdrum/**kern is an open format? Is it stable, and so on? Phabricator needs to know . Sorry for not getting back to you faster on this. HLHJ (talk) 00:19, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi HLHJ -- Yes, it is an open format, insofar as there are open tools for processing it (https://github.com/humdrum-tools) and the "spec" is open (https://csml.som.ohio-state.edu/Humdrum/representations/kern.html). However, it should be taken with a caveat that it is designed to be an ad hoc format, and there isn't really any format governance or change management per se. Craig Sapp is the primary maintainer of the spec and the tools now. There is an active user community, and they tend to "make up" their own spine formats if they need additional information (see: http://www.humdrum.org/rep/). It is largely stable, though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahankins (talk • contribs) 09:59, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
