Regencies of Indonesia

[edit]

Hi Cerebellum, thanks for helping with the Tropenmuseum. If you create new Regency categories, could you stick to the names at en:List of regencies and cities of Indonesia? I'm modeling the category tree here after enwp. Multichill (talk) 22:30, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the guidance, will do. Initially I was omitting the "Regency" on the end because I didn't see a reason for it, but considering all of the regencies that have capitals with the same name, etc, your plan seems the best. As for the ones I've already done, should we use commons delinker to change them? Thanks, Cerebellum (talk) 03:10, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Regencies of Indonesia is pretty much sorted out and in line with en:Category:Regencies of Indonesia. Category:Kabupaten of Indonesia still has to be sorted out. Probably easiest to use a bot for that. Multichill (talk) 11:14, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I dug up the database of locations. Look for example what I've found for Category:Soengai Poear :-) Multichill (talk) 20:24, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent. Those Dutch spellings can really throw you off. Incidentally, what do you mean by the database of locations? If it's something you'd be willing to share, I'd like to use it to make sure that I don't make any more redundant categories. (I'm sure I've made plenty more than just that one.) Cerebellum (talk) 23:58, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The database is somewhat private (got it from the Tropenmuseum) and I don't feel comfortable sharing it.
This file from http://www.geonames.org/ has a free license (cc-by-sa-3.0). Maybe you can use that? Multichill (talk) 15:15, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, that'll work. Thanks for all your help! Cerebellum (talk) 17:19, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And these will probably also make it easier (at least for me):
About 270 categories left. Multichill (talk) 23:27, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

new Qld cats

[edit]

Thanks for creating all those categories. I'm doing a batch of flood related uploads atm, as the current floods in Queensland will cause interest in the old floods. For the next batch I will attempt to fill in these new categories. To do this, I will add a rule to only upload images containing an '<x> in Brisbane' category, and then an '<x> in Queensland' category. John Vandenberg (chat) 07:21, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, this is an amazing project and I'm happy to help. I plan to keep on adding categories as I get time. Thanks so much for all your hard work! --Cerebellum (talk) 07:26, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've done a first pass of filling the 'in Brisbane' categories. e.g. Category:Wharves in Brisbane and Category:World War II home front in Brisbane. Lovely! John Vandenberg (chat) 22:02, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, those really are some beautiful images. --Cerebellum (talk) 23:28, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for all the mapping you are doing. Don't worry about the continual 'fix syntax' from me; they are very easy for me to find and fix, so I don't mind doing that. John Vandenberg (chat) 11:55, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I tend to make mistakes when I go too fast. Unfortunately though, I think I've done about as many as I'm going to do, at least until this weekend. I've been snowed in for the past few days, but school starts but up tomorrow and my free time is going to be very much diminished. Still, it's a good cause and I'll contribute when I can. Cheers, --Cerebellum (talk) 00:20, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
