Thank you for your contributions. Your image or other content was recently deleted, or will soon be deleted, in accordance with our process and policies, because it was not, or is not, within our scope. Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at educational media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. The expression “educational” is to be understood according to its broad meaning of “providing knowledge; instructional or informative”. Wikimedia Commons does not contain text articles like encyclopedia articles, textbooks, news, word definitions and such. Each of these other kinds of content have their own projects: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wiktionary and Wikiquote. If the content seems to fit the scope of one of those other projects, please consider contributing it there. If you think that the deletion was in error because the contribution really was in scope, you can appeal it at Commons:Undeletion requests, giving a reason why it fits our scope to help others evaluate the matter. Thank you for your understanding.

Re: Haraki/Lindos

[edit]

You are right. The photos named haraki51.JPG to haraki63.JPG are of Lindos castle, not Haraki. Thanks for spotting that, I've fixed the images in question! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 16:02, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ano Petali

[edit]

I think you're right that it's Ano Petali. Most people off the island though (guidebooks and visitors) don't use the names of the subvillages, so I just said Artemonas. But it's fine with me to call it Ano Petali too. Jcorelis (talk) 14:31, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation of the islands category. And you're right of course to change to Hephaestion; I think I've read too many old travel books from when people still thought it was the Theseion and so put that without thinking. Jcorelis (talk) 14:55, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cities and villages in Cyclades Prefecture

[edit]

Deshalb ist cities and villages neutraler. Bonjour !

Jastrow (Λέγετε) 11:35, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Veena categorization

[edit]

Hi! I looked around that and tried to find out where the origin of "saraswati" came from, as opposed to just a generic veena whose type is un-spesified, it is not called sarasvati veena anywhere I could find, nor could I find in history where it was decided it was. The page itself says from the picture originator that "I know nothing about musical instruments so if you happen to know what a particular instrument is, ". My background here: I am adding Veena instruments to MusicBrainz, and also updating WikiData Items + any irregularities I see in commons in the process. I acknowledge that I may have acted too rashly with this; I do plan on searching and categorising all the different "veena/vina" here on commons as well - using different languages and scripts to find them all, for example. If you could tell me where /how it was decided this was Saraswati veena specifically I would be much obliged, and of course I do not mind to revert my changes should they prove wrong. I apologise as I should have made this clear while editing/opened a discussion. --CatCat (talk) 16:19, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm sorry if I'm doing this wrong, should we talk only on my talk page?
I gave a reply there. Would it be ok with you if I copied what I wrote here previously into our discussion on my talk page? (for clarification for anyone reading the thread etc.) I apologise for being so unknowledgable ._.;;; I mostly gnome the various wikis so I don't really have much experience wiki-interacting with other humans o_o --CatCat (talk) 17:01, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kissamos

[edit]

Hello, concerning this and especially that, please note that Kissamos province (d:Q12875694) is not the same as Kissamos municipality (w:Q12875694). I believe that the file does not belong to Category:Maps of the municipality of Kissamos. What do yo suggest we do? --FocalPoint (talk) 08:31, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@FocalPoint: .You are right. However the territory of the 2010 municipality/dimos is the same as the ancient province, and the file does not belong a fortiori to the category of the town itself. I don't feel like creating a specific category for the provinces myself.--Phso2 (talk) 08:37, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

vichitra veena

[edit]

Hi, I'm never sure about if I should reply on the talkpage where the person asked me(mine), or their talk own page so I'm commenting here to point you to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:CatCat#vitchitra_vina - I can certainly add categories again, but there are some complications. Propylaea

[edit]

Bonjour Phso2 J'ai vu que sur File:A view of the west front of the Propylaea at Athens - Cockerell Charles Robert Kinnard William Donaldsonthomas Leverton Jenkins William Railton William - 1830.jpg, tu avais supprimé la catégorie : Propylaea en 1830.

Bien cordialement.
- Io Herodotus (talk) 10:46, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Io Herodotus: tu m'as devancé, j'allais te parler de "Propilei - Pomardi Simone - 1820"Clin ça me parait parfait comme tu as fait--Phso2 (talk) 11:31, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
