Hi I did revert you as I couldn't see the purpose of your edit. This template has already a fallback solution. It falls back to English if no translation of the given text is existing (other fallbacks don't make so much sense simply because only English exists everytime). Arnomane 23:48, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ya, since the template will fallback into english by default, my edit is just add a parameter, adding a ability to fallback into another language besides English, for Example like the Pinyin Edition Main page will fallback into Simplified Chinese if the Pinyin text is not defined. And this is doing the same way if other language has the parameter fallback_language. :) --Shinjiman 15:03, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hm ok. but the question is: Is there a larger support of any other language than English providing a reliable fall back? Otherwise you will just get displayed garbage as far as I can see it and that wouldn't bee that good IMHO. Arnomane 23:02, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How about having a modification in this way?
  • if the specific language is found, return the messaage from 'language';
  • else if the message in fallback language is found, return the message from 'fallback_language';
  • else return the en message if both message cannot be found.
This method can add the ability to customise the fallback message other than english, and also this can fallback into English message if both message cannot found. --Shinjiman 06:48, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That would be nice and probably a good solution in case of the many zh variants. However I am not that familar with these very advanced template coding tricks. Can you contact User:UED77? He is more in the subject than me and probably knows how to to it best. Arnomane 07:26, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You added a four parameter to this template, But I don't see where you use it. Can you explain me it? I want to delete the third parameter to generate it automatically. Thanks, Sanbec 11:11, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The fourth parameter is adding the ability to display the assigned language code other than the first parameter. When the fourth parameter is undefined, it will use the first parameter by default. for example:
粵語: 呢個係一個用繁體字嘅測試.角、骨,誤解。

:(using default language tag "zh-yue")

中文(中国大陆):呢個係一個用繁體字嘅測試.角、骨,誤解。

:(using language tag "zh-cn")

中文(臺灣):呢個係一個用繁體字嘅測試.角、骨,誤解。

:(using language tag "zh-tw")

it will rendered the description with "default/zh-cn/zh-tw" fonts, which that parameter can correct the font assignment problem in major browsers, which some language tags does not support them correctly. --Shinjiman 18:01, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
btw, there's not much cases that using the fourth parameter, feel free to modify the fourth parameter into the third parameter, and delete the third parameter at present time. :) --Shinjiman 18:04, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Transperth Murdoch Station decoration freeway north.jpg

[edit]

Image:Transperth Murdoch Station decoration freeway north.jpg has this description:

The decorations of Murdoch Station, taken from Kwinana Freeway northbound.

This doesn't appear to be accurate - it appears to have been taken from somewhere west of the decorations, i.e. the south-west carpark. I have updated the description accordingly. Brian Jason Drake 02:00, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correct, the decoration has been taken on the west side of the Kwinana Freeway north bound, which is on the south-west carpark. Shinjiman 17:22, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Westfield Photos

[edit]

Hi Shinjiman,

I have notice that you have uploaded photos of westfield shopping centres on Wikimedia Commons, I was wondering if you may be able to take some photos of Centro shopping Centres in WA, as we are currently starting a gallery for Centro Propertises Group article on Wikipedia. It would be greatly appreciated if you could, you may find a list of Centro Shopping Centres in Australia here:[1].

Thank you in advance!

Hello, Shinjiman!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Notification about possible deletion

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

This file may be deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Hong Kong Legislative Council Election Logo 2016.png, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!
