File:Connecticut Presidential Election Result 1864.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Congressional district county map[edit]

Hey can I ask where you source your county maps from? More specifically where did you get the county map for the GA-02 district map you made? NSNW (talk) 17:24, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I got the GA-02 County map by using redistricter and putting a Georgia congressman district shapefile and then downloading the County boundaries in the district. You have to pay $8 for redistricter though. Tell me if you have any more questions. JosephBobilly (talk) 17:35, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is this kind of method possible with other districting software like DRA? NSNW (talk) 18:46, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so JosephBobilly (talk) 22:38, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 17:09, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Can you update the shapes on these map files. 2600:1009:B055:66B6:71AA:58DC:737C:1EE7 02:50, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding election maps[edit]

Hello JosephBobily,

I came across this page after looking at the map of Pennsylvania’s municipalities in 1988’s presidential election.

I must say, that’s an incredibly impressive map.

You attributed the data to Harvard’s ROAD project if I’m not mistaken?

If so, do you know if that resource has presidential election data by municipality for Washington state prior to 2004, or for New York prior to 1992?

In particular, election results by municipality for the presidential elections of 1964-1988 would be a real find. Truckonout (talk) 22:27, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The ROAD Database is for elections from 1984 - 1990 and for Ohio its 1984 - 1994. JosephBobilly (talk) 22:42, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So Washington state election precincts for 1984 and 1988 are included in there? Truckonout (talk) 03:55, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes JosephBobilly (talk) 14:56, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just downloaded the file for Washington that appeared on ROAD and have converted it into a .txt file, then gotten it into an excel file, and I downloaded the roadmap pdf too. Here is a link to the source:
https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataset.xhtml?persistentId=doi:10.7910/DVN/YCWYVV
By any chance would it be ok if I showed you the file somehow, and asked you to look at it to make sure I'm reading it correctly when I assess towns and precincts? In particular, I am curious about the 1988 presidential and gubernatorial elections in Washington state.
The 1988 presidential election is one of the closest in the history of Washington state, and the gubernatorial election by contrast is the most one sided gubernatorial or presidential election in Washington state since 1936. Truckonout (talk) 06:25, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Did you download the .por file? That one should be the most accurate and the election data should be at the end of the spreadsheet. JosephBobilly (talk) 06:27, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alaska borough maps[edit]

Hello. I noticed that you have uploaded shapefiles for historical borough/census area boundaries for Alaska over the decades. Thank you for doing that! I also saw that you posted a borough/census area map for the 1962 US Senate election, and I was wanting to know how you calculated the totals. I did the calculations myself a few months ago (before I believe you posted your map), but I got different percentages for many of the boroughs (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1962_United_States_Senate_election_in_Alaska_results_map_by_borough_and_census_area_(concurrent).svg ).

You will also notice that my map also has Bristol Bay borough on it, since it had been created by the time of the election in 1962. I'm currently working on creating borough shapefiles that accurately reflect intra-decade boundary changes, which I also compiled into a video a few years back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbzpNvfPrWU&t=2s .

Lastly, in case you ever plan on doing more borough estimations for other elections, cinyc9 has interactive precinct maps that could help in speeding up the process:
https://cinycmaps.com/index.php/state-maps/ak/ak-historic-elections-map (1960s)
https://cinycmaps.com/index.php/state-maps/ak/ak-historic-elections-map (1980s-2000s)
P.S. Keep up the great work with all of the maps you have added to Wikipedia! PrusBis6187 (talk) 06:54, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I got the precinct results from cinyc's map but i replaced my map with yours because i think it is more accurate since i was kind of tired when i was makinh it so probably didnt add up all the precincts correctly. JosephBobilly (talk) 13:42, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Did you split any precincts when making the map? PrusBis6187 (talk) 17:46, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean JosephBobilly (talk) 18:18, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since the precinct boundaries don't line up exactly with the borough boundaries, were there any precincts whose votes you roughly distributed across different boroughs? PrusBis6187 (talk) 19:03, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

1972 US House Alaska borough map[edit]

Hello again. I noticed that you made a borough map for the 1972 AK US House election. I just wanted to let you know that the boundaries you used for the election are not entirely accurate. The Newberry Library is normally quite detailed and accurate for county boundary changes, but, for Alaska, it only shows how the boroughs have changed at the start of each decade, even though boundary changes went on over the course of each decade. You can find a file with svgs of Alaska borough maps, including 1972, here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1xhM8ISfVY4e7Cny-0V4Yzy688HXJBtJM?usp=sharing
the 1972 svg should also work through at least 1976, if not until 1980. PrusBis6187 (talk) 18:09, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Updated it with the correct boundaries JosephBobilly (talk) 19:08, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
