File renames

Rejecting a rename request

Why did you decline my rename request? The file name is meaningless (it could be translated into English as "Untitled135 20211029202926.png"), so it needs to be changed. HFoxii (talk) 05:46, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

@HFoxii please see COM:FRNOT#2, this guidelines says,

Files should NOT be renamed only to translate the filename to another language and/or because the filename is not correctly capitalized. Remember, Commons is a multilingual project, so there's no reason to favor English over other languages.

The meaningless name of the file is a reason for renaming ("To change from a meaningless or ambiguous name to a name that describes what the image particularly displays"). The Latin names of the species are generally accepted international names, so I don't see the problem. HFoxii (talk) 12:08, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

It was uploaded on 2022-01-31 as PD and changed on the same day to "all rights reserved". Seems to me as a correction of an upload error because the source is "Katalog pojazdów specjalnych eksploatowanych w Resorcie Spraw Wewnętrznych, XII/1983". This picture is a COM:DW and we need the correct license for the original work (which may be "all right reserved" which is not usable here on commons)--Wdwd (talk) 11:24, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

আমরা আগে আলোচনা করে ঠিক করে নেই যে আমার তোলা ভিডিও গুলো কোথাও থেকে কপি করা কিনা। যদি আপনি প্রমাণ করতে পারেন যে আমি ভিডিওগুলো কোথা থেকে কপি করেছি তারপরে সেই ভিডিও ট্যাগ গুলো যুক্ত করা যাবে। এখন অহেতুক কোনো প্রমাণ ছাড়া সেই ভিডিওগুলোতে এসব ত্যাগ যুক্ত করা হলে এবং সেগুলো যদি ডিলিট হয়ে যায় তাহলে তার দায় কে নিবে??? অপূর্ব রায়-২৩ (talk) 01:46, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

আমার মনে হয় আপনি আগে VRT-তে ইমেইল করুন। এই জন্য Commons:Volunteer_Response_Team/bn#কোনও_ফাইলের_অধিকার_মুক্তির_জন্য_ইমেইল_বার্তার_টেমপ্লেট বা Commons:Wikimedia VRT release generator ব্যবহার করুন।

That's the worst assumption I have ever known. Those are just characters generated by a camera, how can you assume that it's in English? "Remember, Commons is a multilingual project, so there's no reason to favor English over other languages." also from COM:FRNOT. That filename is not in any language at all, so I can name it in any language I want. However, I chose to name it in Vietnamese, since that location is in Vietnam. Like I said, I made hundreds of similar requests and other filemovers accepted it. Adding my pictures to /Bangladesh/Date with Month

Why are you adding the pictures I upload to such pages? Most of the Images I upload is based on articles related to India or subjects that is physically assosiated India or within India. None of them are related to Bangladesh. So why? Editor8220 (talk) 06:55, 16 January 2023 (UTC)

This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. Hi MdsShakil, while doing some maintenance on TimedText files I stumbled upon TimedText:Amar Shonar Bangla instrumental by US Navy Band.oga.la.srt which of course is not Latin language but seems to be transliterated.
